Abstract
Bio-psychosocial is an approach includes the influences of biological, psychological and social factors when looking at overall health. Aim: This study aimed to assess of bio psycho social burden among nurses working at emergency unit in Cairo university students’ hospital. Research design: A descriptive study design was used to conduct the study. Setting: Emergency unit at Cairo university students’ hospital. Sample: Convenient sample used to choose 50 nurses. Tool of data collection: One tool included five parts, 1st part: Demographic characteristics, 2nd part: Medical history, 3rd part: Nurses burden, 4th part: Knowledge of nurses about bio psycho social burden, and 5th part: Nurses’ reported practices about prevention of bio psycho social burden. Results: 56.0% of the studied nurse had high total bio psycho social burden scores, and 60.0% of them had good total knowledge regarding bio psycho social burden scores. While, 62.0% of them had insufficient total scores and level of reported practices. There a relation between nurse’ bio psycho social burden, knowledge, and reported practices towards bio psycho social burden Conclusion: More than half of the studied nurse had high total bio psycho social burden scores, and less two thirds of them had good total knowledge regarding bio psycho social burden scores. While, less two thirds of them had insufficient total scores and level of reported practices. Recommendations: Provide health education program for nurse about bio psycho social burden to improve their condition.
