Abstract
ABSTRACT
• Background: Fetal congenital anomalies represent today a major issue for health services regarding the amount of resources need and affects a body part or physiologic function and is present at birth. It is caused by the abnormal ontogenetic development of the fetus. Aim: to assess pregnant women knowledge regarding fetal congenital anomalies and coping pattern Research design: descriptive design was used in the current study. Setting: study conducted in National Research Center (Medical Research Center of Excellent). In Egypt. Sample Purposive sample of 50 pregnant women was collected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Tools: Two tools used to collect the data, tool I interviewing questionnaire for pregnant women sociodemographic characteristic and knowledge assessment sheet, tool II self –Rating Depression Scale, Trial Anxiety Inventory Form Y-1and cope inventory. Result: There was majority of pregnant women had poor knowledge regarding fetal congenital anomalies and coping pattern. About two third had mild depression, more than one third had mild anxiety and majority of pregnant women not using copping pattern. Conclusion: The present study concluded that majority of pregnant women had poor knowledge regarding fetal congenital anomalies and coping pattern. Recommendations: Development nursing instruction for pregnant women with fetal congenital anomalies to improve their knowledge, skills for dealing with the problem to improve maternal and fetal well-being.
